An archipelago of airborne islands that shift positions with the prevailing winds. This bountiful skyward region was previously cut off from the land-dwellers of Gnawnia due to the impenetrable magical storms created by Ful’Mina. Any intrepid hunter who possesses the Skyfarer's Oculus, a dirigible, and the protective Warden Stones will now be able to sail safely through the storms to this lofty paradise in the clouds. |
Overview
Floating Islands is a Location located within the Hollow Heights Region, requiring a minimum Rank of Archduke/Archduchess and the Dirigible and Flight License Map Piece to access. The Dirigible and Flight License can be purchased at the Moussu Picchu Cartographer for
- 2,500,000 Gold

Floating Islands makes use of 8 different Power Types, nearly every available one in the game, namely:
Mice here are able to pillage Standard Cheese, Points and Gold if one fails to capture them.
Hunters first collect Cloud Curd to purchase Cloud Cheesecake while at the Launch Pad. All 8 Power Types are effective here. Subsequently, Hunters fly towards specific Power Type Islands to hunt mice using their Sky Map. There are 2 versions of each Island, Low Altitude and High Altitude. Hunters must first clear a minimum of 4 Low Altitude Islands and defeat 4 different Wardens to unlock a single High Altitude Island. While hunting on the islands, mice will drop loot used to upgrade your Skyfarer's Oculus, customise your Dirigible and obtain new Traps.

If a Hunter does not have any more of the saved Cheese or Charm remaining in their inventory, it will be highlighted with a red box. All other components will still be changed. Gameplay Mechanics

On the Launch Pad, Hunters will be able to hunt mice to collect Cloud Curd to purchase Cloud Cheesecake with.
Here, the Workshop, Skymap and Log can be accessed.
All Launch Pad mice are weak against all Power Types except Parental and Rift.
Workshop
While exploring islands you'll find Sky Ore and Sky Glass which you can use to upgrade your Skyfarer's Oculus. Upgrades will add a greater quantity and variety of Island features to the Sky Map. You can also customise your Dirigible here with various cosmetic skins found while hunting. There are 3 customisable parts: Balloon, Sails and Hull.
Sky Map
Opening the Sky Map on the Launch Pad allows a hunter to choose between 8 unique, randomised islands to visit. There is one island for each of the 8 Power Types and the unique checkerboard interface shows what kind of loot you'll find on each of the islands. On the same board are all the buffs available to the Hunter via upgrades at the Workshop.
Your main objective when selecting and visiting an island is to defeat the four Sky Wardens: Fog, Wind, Rain, and Frost. Once one is defeated it's removed from the Sky Map and once all four are defeated your Dirigible will be able to ascend to the more lucrative High Altitude Islands.
The Sky Map is split into 2 orientations:
- Horizontally from the left are the Arcane, Forgotten, Hydro, Shadow Islands.
- Vertically from the bottom are the Draconic, Law, Physical, Tactical.
Hunters are encouraged to select which Islands they would like to visit based on the loot and buffs available on said Island. When selecting an Island, all loot and buffs highlighted by the interface on the specific horizontal row or vertical column associated with the Power Type can be found on the Island. Be sure to select an Island with a Warden Shrine available. They are depicted by the Hexagonal runes. Every Warden Shrine will always be available on 2 different Islands, one horizontal, one vertical. Hunters are advised to pick the one where they have got a better trap set up for. However, if simply after loot, Hunters may opt to pick an island with the most loot buffs rather than a Warden Shrine
Pay attention to the order of the loot and buff as it appears in the same order while hunting on an Island. Horizontal from left to right and Vertical from bottom to top. IE the buff nearer to the Power Type icon on the Sky Map will always appear first on the Island.
Hunters can use Cyclone Stones to reroll their Sky Map to obtain a more favourable loot and buff layout that suits their needs.

While on Islands
Low Altitude Island
By default, all Hunters start on a Low Altitude Island with a maximum of 75 hunts.
While visiting a Low Altitude Island, your objective is to explore the island, collect loot and defeat a Sky Warden if one is present. As you explore the island you'll activate different effects and loot caches that determine what items mice drop, which mice you encounter, and even how quickly you explore the island. Mice can drop 1 Sky Glass and/or 1 Sky Ore for each successful catch. This can be doubled by the buffs (Sky Ore Deposit/Sky Glass formation), which stack on top of each other. Bottled Wind increases the loot dropped by 1.
Effects and Loot Caches are activated in order as selected on the Sky Map. The same 4 Squares from the Sky Map is now enlarged on the HUD. Each square is equivalent to 10 steps while on an Island. Landing on a square with a buff will activate its effect. Starting a square with no buff doesn't affect progress positively or negatively.
Each successful hunt will progress your exploration by 1 step from left to right, while each failure to catch will allow the hoards of mice to get in the way of your progress by progressing from right to left by 1 step. Bottled Wind adds an additional step for the hunter in the event of a catch. The shrine power up also adds an additional step for each catch. Failure to attract does not change the current progress, other than reducing hunts remaining on the island. This is reflected in the progress bar across the 4 squares with your position on the left and the enemy's on the right. Once the bars meet you'll potentially encounter a Sky Warden in a tug-of-war standoff! Therefore it takes a maximum of 40 encounters to unlock a Sky Warden.
Once the Sky Warden is unlocked, hunters will then have the option to retreat to the launchpad at any point, or remain on the island until their 75 hunts run out. From this point until the progress bar is fully filled, failure to catch will continue to move the progress bar left by 1 step, but only if there are still green steps within the current quarter of the island. Once the Sky Warden is caught, the hunter can opt to depart back to the launch pad as well, or stay on and hunt until the progress bar is fully filled with green squares (or blue if bottled wind is on). Doing so awards a Low Altitude Treasure Trove. After the trove is awarded, staying on the island rather than departing early will allow the collection of additional loot from the relevant buffs.
It is possible to select a low-altitude island with no shrine buff in any of its squares. On these islands, the hunter must still move the progress bar until both sides meet before it is possible to retreat from the island, even though no Sky Warden will be encountered.
Upon clearing all 40 steps, hunters will receive a Low Altitude Treasure Trove.
High Altitude Island
After clearing all 4 Sky Wardens on Low Altitude Islands, Hunters will be able to access a High Altitude Island. The Gameplay is identical to the Low altitude island, with the key difference being that you choose the type of high altitude loot you are going for. In addition, the Sky Paragon encountered will be dependent on the power type you choose. Mice can drop 2 Sky Glass and/or 2 Sky Ore for each successful catch, which can be doubled by the buffs similarly. Hunters still have 75 hunts to explore the island. Fully exploring the island rewards the hunter with a High Altitude Treasure Trove.
Upon clearing all 40 steps, hunters will receive a High Altitude Treasure Trove.
Hunting tips by Larry
Welcome to the Floating Islands where you can finally see the world from Ronza's perspective!
Now that you've got your flight license, the sky is the limit! The King has commissioned the construction of this luxurious Launch Pad (it took a lot of tariffs to pull this one off!) as a home for hunters who are taking to the skies to capture the mice above the clouds!
Here you will find a new type of building: the Workshop. It can be used to upgrade your Skyfarer's Oculus and customize your dirigible. You can also find the usual assortment of shops which will be crucial in providing much needed bait, trap upgrades, and some special supplies for sailing the skies!
The Cheese Shoppe has been stocked with a delicious new cheesy treat that is so light and fluffy that it defies the laws of physics! I suggest loading up on at least 75 pieces for your first trip to the islands.
The Charm Shoppe has some pretty powerful charms for sale so it's worth a visit for the veteran Floating Islander.
The Trapsmith should be one of your first stops so you can see what new wonders of the mouse catching world are available for purchase as well as what resources they require from the various islands above.
Now, before you go rushing off to hit that shiny new "Start" button, let me share the intel we've gathered so far about how the islands seem to work.
Upon opening your Sky Map, you will see the current layout of islands available to you as well as Markers indicating unique spots that are located on each one. Each island is also home to a specific group of mice that are weak to the power type indicated on the axis of the Sky Map grid. Remember, the winds of change are constantly blowing, after each island you explore, the Sky Map will change and a new set of islands will appear so don't take this decision lightly!
An island with a shrine on it will also be home to one of the four Wardens. These Wardens prevent travel to the High Altitude islands which are home to the most powerful mice and rarest resources. You will need to capture all four Wardens before your Sky Map will reveal the High Altitude islands. Make sure to gather as many resources as possible along the way so that you will be well prepared to battle the powerful guardians of the High Altitude islands: the Paragons!
After selecting an island and pressing "Launch", you will set sail in your dirigible and land at your destination. Upon landing, make sure to adjust your trap setup to the power type of that island. To make this easier, your dirigible has been equipped with a brand new Trap Library that you can use to save your complete setup for each power type. Once you've saved it, that setup will equip automatically every time you visit an island with that power type! This fancy new feature should help to make your island voyages much smoother! Once you've landed and equipped your setup, you can begin exploring these miraculous places! Be careful though, you only have 75 hunts before the island floats too far away from the Launch Pad thus preventing a safe return. If you exceed this limit, your crew will automatically pack everything up and take you back to the Launch Pad. So, make every hunt count!
Each successful catch on the island will progress your exploration bar but each time you fail to catch, the enemy mice on the other side of the island will make progress towards you! If you are successful enough to enter a special area of the island, you will immediately gain its bonus for the remainder of your hunts. However, the mice are exploring it as well but they are looking for you! If you meet up with that enemy hoard and there is a shrine on the island, it will be the Warden that leads the charge! Once you meet a Warden, you won't be able to attract any other mice until you either catch it or are forced off the island!
Fully exploring an area of the island will fortify its location which means the opposing mice cannot push you back any further.
Well, I guess that's it -- oh wait, I almost forgot! There have been reports of Sky Pirates roaming the skies in this region so be extra vigilant in your expeditions!
The rest is up to you. Good luck, hunter!
Wow... what a view! To think, I almost missed out on this due to my crippling fear of heights!
